Modern Slavery Statement for Storage Islington
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Islington in accordance with applicable modern slavery and human trafficking legislation. It sets out the actions we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains.
Storage Islington provides secure storage solutions to individuals and businesses. We recognise that modern slavery can occur in many forms, including forced labour, child labour, human trafficking, debt bondage and exploitative working conditions. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery has no place in our organisation or supply chains.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Islington has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. This policy applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, directors and anyone acting on behalf of Storage Islington. We expect the same high standards from all our suppliers, service providers and other business partners.
Any form of modern slavery is fundamentally incompatible with our values and code of conduct. We will not knowingly engage with any individual or organisation involved in, or complicit with, modern slavery. Where concerns are identified, we will take appropriate and proportionate action, which may include suspending or terminating a business relationship.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Standards
Our supply chains include providers of storage equipment and materials, maintenance and cleaning services, security services, technology and professional services. We acknowledge that risk can exist at different levels of the supply chain and we are committed to working only with suppliers who uphold lawful, fair and safe working practices.
We communicate our expectations on human rights and labour standards to our suppliers and require them to comply with all relevant legislation relating to employment, health and safety and modern slavery. We aim to embed these expectations into our procurement and supplier management processes so that modern slavery considerations are part of our regular commercial decision-making.
Supplier Audits and Due Diligence
Storage Islington carries out proportionate due diligence on new suppliers and, where appropriate, existing suppliers. This may include requesting information about labour practices, policies on modern slavery, and the use of subcontractors, as well as reviewing publicly available information where relevant.
We are developing and refining a risk-based approach to supplier audits. Higher-risk suppliers may be subject to more detailed questionnaires, requests for evidence of policies and procedures, or onsite checks where feasible. Where issues are identified, we will work with the supplier to agree corrective actions and reasonable timeframes. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards, we reserve the right to review or end the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Islington encourages the reporting of any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices, whether within our own operations or in our supply chains. Employees are encouraged to raise concerns with their line manager or a member of the management team. Concerns may also be raised through any established internal reporting or whistleblowing channels.
We are committed to ensuring that anyone who raises a concern in good faith is treated with respect and does not suffer any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result. All reports will be taken seriously and, where appropriate, investigated promptly and sensitively. We will take suitable action where there is evidence of non-compliance with our policy.
Training and Awareness
We aim to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management and supplier relationships. Training and guidance are provided so that employees can recognise potential indicators of modern slavery and know how to respond to any concerns.
We also encourage open dialogue with suppliers about labour standards and ethical practices so that we can jointly work to identify and manage potential risks in our shared supply chains.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with the senior management of Storage Islington. Management reviews progress on our modern slavery initiatives, including the effectiveness of due diligence, supplier engagement and internal reporting mechanisms.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually to reflect any changes in legislation, guidance, our operations or our understanding of modern slavery risks. Where necessary, we will update our policies, procedures and training to strengthen our controls and improve our response. The updated statement will be approved by the relevant senior leadership and made available publicly.
Storage Islington remains fully committed to maintaining and enhancing our efforts to combat modern slavery and human trafficking, and to working collaboratively with employees, suppliers and stakeholders to promote ethical and responsible business conduct.
